Continental Signals is an independent, editorial project. It is not operated by, endorsed by, or affiliated with the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), or any other government agency. In an emergency, call 911 and follow the instructions of local authorities and the official warning system for your area.
Alerts are read from public NWS and ECCC feeds and cached for up to 60 seconds. Feeds may be temporarily unavailable, delayed, or contain errors. Point-based ("near me") lookup uses your browser's geolocation and currently covers U.S. NWS forecast zones only. Do not use this site as your sole source of severe-weather information.
The "Explain in plain language" feature uses a large language model to summarize alert text. AI output can be incorrect, incomplete, or omit critical detail. The original alert issued by the NWS or ECCC is always the source of truth. Treat the AI summary as a reading aid, never as official guidance, and never as a substitute for instructions from local emergency officials. The model is accessed through a third-party AI gateway (currently the Lovable AI Gateway, routing to Google Gemini). Providers may change without notice.
Nothing on this site — including safety tips, "what to do" guides, and AI-generated summaries — constitutes medical, legal, or professional emergency advice. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 (US and Canada) and follow the directions of local first responders.
Coverage is limited to the United States (NWS) and Canada (ECCC). The "use my location" lookup currently resolves only to US NWS forecast zones. Absence of an alert on this site does not mean an area is safe — always cross-check with your local warning system.
This site is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators of Continental Signals disclaim all liability for any loss, injury, or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, information presented here.
Alert data is retrieved from api.weather.gov (NWS, public domain) and weather.gc.ca / MSC GeoMet (ECCC, Open Government Licence – Canada). Agency names are used for factual attribution only; no affiliation or endorsement is implied. Agency logos and trademarks are not used.
